The Materials World Network (MWN) is a diverse group of stakeholders from government, academia, and industry. Our mission is to foster international cooperation in materials research and education and serve as a platform for addressing global challenges (i.e. energy, environment, health, security, etc.) via materials science and technology.

Based on joint ownership and universal participation, MWN is a platform for addressing global challenges via materials science, education, and technology. 

MWN launches cross-cutting initiatives that:

• Involve participants from diverse sectors, regions, and disciplines
• Integrate research and education
• Promote science literacy and public understanding of materials science
• Develop leadership capabilities in young researchers
• Build global capacity in materials research, engineering and education
• Establish lasting infrastructures to support regional and international cooperation

MWN is supported by a growing framework of joint funding agreements between the US National Science Foundation and its international counterparts.
